About the Production:

“IF THE WORLD HATES YOU – BEAR IN MIND THAT IT HATED ME FIRST” (John 15:18)

Who among us would idolise a lawbreaker? Yet, Jesus Christ was arrested for crimes against society and his death – by crucifixion – was that of a criminal. But, who was to blame? The Priests? The Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate? The “puppet” king, Herodias? Or perhaps even Jesus himself? The inevitable chain of events leading to the most famous execution of all time as seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot is encapsulated in our original and provocative production of Lloyd-Webber & Rice’s rock musical “Jesus Christ Superstar”

“Jesus Christ Superstar” swept onto the stage in the 1970s amidst a wave of controversy – “Blasphemy!”; “Outrageous!”; “Heresy!” were the words of the public. Yet, this incredible Rock Opera, was not to be silenced. After its opening in London (despite the protests and lobbying), JCS became the “…longest running musical of all time”. On the ROXY MAIN STAGE at 1.25pm at the Edinburgh Festival, 2007 we challenge you to discover “What (indeed) is truth”?
